The
KANTA MUSEUM IN ARGUNGU is a historic building
belonging to Argungi local government. It’s a typical Hausa
traditional architecture, which affects the history of the
town to a large extent. The warrior MUHAMMED KANTA who
conquered the army of ASKIA, the leader of the Songhay Empire
and founder of Argungu.
ARGUNGU is a popular town of historical interest in
Kebbi state, It is internationally known for it’s fishing
festival which attracts people from all works of life.
The celebration of the
fishing festival dated back to 1937, and since then, it is
being held annually within the first months of the year. The
festival serves as an avenue for the people of Argungu and
Kebbi state at large to showcase their cultural values and
heritage.
NIGERIA is made up of several ethnic groups. It’s a
country with over 400 linguistics groups three principal
religions, a multiple of socio-political opinions and
organizations and vary weather and climatic conditions between
the north and south.
The Country is made up of different customs and
traditions, cultures and festivals that would appeal to the
taste of the average curist.
DURBAR
To the various emirates
of the North of Nigeria, the Durbar festival symbolize
strength and deterous skills in horsemanship.
These
days, Durbars are called up during religious festivals like
idel-fitri and idel-kabir.
Durbars
are also called up at installation ceremonies of Emirs, As a
Mark of hospitality to very important visitors, like members
of the diplomatic corps, the Durbar serves as the peak of
entertainment. In Daura, Hadeja and Gumir, Durbars are called
up during the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammed.

Galloping in their large processions the horses are
colourfully adorned. Their riders are bedecked in aristocratic
regalia, blowing on bugles and trumpets accompanied by
drumming and dancing.
The
mounts show rhythm in their speed and usually come to an
abrupt halt to salute and pledge loyalty to Emirs.
IGWE
The Benin Kingdom was
one of the best known centres of civilization in pre-colonial
Nigeria. The oba (King) is the traditional head of the present
day Benin.
Igwe
festival is celebrated annually in December by the oba and his
subjects. It is a combination of nine principal ceremonies
during which goats and other animals are sacrificed. The
celebrants dress in their finest attires and join in songs and
dances.
